Principal System Level Product Engineer
Job Title
Principal System Level Product Engineer
Role Summary
Senior product engineering role within the Product Engineering team. The engineer will lead manufacturability and manufacturing flow at system-level test (SLT), working cross-functionally with architecture, SoC design, validation, test, packaging, software and quality teams.
The role drives pre-silicon readiness through post-silicon bring-up for advanced process nodes and packaging technologies (including 2.5D/3DIC and sub-3nm), with a focus on power, performance, cost and manufacturability.
Experience Level
Level: Senior. Minimum ~12 years of relevant experience in system-level product engineering, manufacturing test, yield improvement, silicon characterization and system-level reliability qualification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include coordinating cross-functional product engineering activities and owning SLT manufacturing and test flows.
- Collaborate with product, architecture and design teams to capture and translate product requirements into manufacturable solutions.
- Own pre- and post-silicon operations across product engineering, including SLT manufacturing test flow, yield improvement and SOC testing.
- Lead system-level qualification, failure debug, and correlation between functional failures and ATE results.
- Develop and improve yield characterization and mitigation methodologies; use integrated sensor frameworks to inform yield strategies.
- Drive validation of VF margins for SLT testing and implement shift-left strategies to reduce silicon risk.
- Serve as primary point of contact for cross-functional collaborators and external partners on manufacturing readiness.
- Travel up to 20% for company and partner meetings (domestic and international).
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; a short list of desirable skills is provided separately.
- Minimum ~12 years of experience in system-level product engineering including manufacturing test, yield improvement and silicon characterization.
- Proven experience with bare-metal and functional testing concepts for SoC testing, including compute subsystems and high-speed PHYs (e.g., PCIe, DDR, UCIE).
- Strong understanding of device physics, digital and mixed-signal design, and foundry/assembly processes affecting CPU/GPU/SoC power and performance.
- Familiarity with IC data tools (examples: Silicon.da, Optimal+) and data analysis using JMP or similar tools.
- Experience with system-level reliability qualification, failure analysis and correlation to test equipment results.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, and ability to learn and communicate technical concepts across teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in system design or system architecture.
- Experience validating high-speed IO.
- Software scripting skills (Python).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
