Job Title

Principal RFIC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for designing highly-integrated microwave and millimeter-wave RFICs in advanced silicon technologies. Work within a cross-functional RF/analog team in Chelmsford to develop circuit IP, simulation techniques, and drive designs from specification through silicon characterization.

The role contributes to Qorvo's RF portfolio used across communications, defense and infrastructure applications.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 5 to 10+ years of IC design experience (Principal/Professional level).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include hands-on circuit design, collaboration across functions, and mentoring.

  • Design and simulate microwave and millimeter-wave RFICs (PA, LNA, switches, beamforming blocks).
  • Translate system-level requirements into IC-level specifications with system and verification engineers.
  • Develop and apply advanced circuit design and simulation techniques, including parasitic modeling and EM analysis.
  • Perform silicon characterization, debugging, and drive design-for-first-time success.
  • Define and implement design process improvements and contribute to the IP portfolio.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and clearly document technical work.

Requirements

Must-have and nice-to-have technical skills and experience.

  • Must-have: RF/mixed-signal IC design experience in advanced silicon processes; deep knowledge of analog, RF and mmWave design techniques including parasitic modeling and EM analysis; solid understanding of front-end PA/LNA/switch circuits; experience with silicon characterization and debugging; proficiency with Cadence and ADS; familiarity with verification methodologies (behavioral, analog/RF, AMS) and basic Verilog/Verilog-A; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with RF/mmWave beamforming architectures (phase shifters, VGAs); PLL block-level design experience (PFD, charge pumps, dividers, VCOs); LDO and low-noise power-supply design; packaging EM analysis and foundry trade-study experience; experience with HFSS and EMX.

Education Requirements

M.S. in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or Ph.D. specified; the posting indicates MSEE/PhD with 5 to 10+ years of IC design experience.
