Principal Product Engineer 6 Virtuoso Backend Flows

Role Summary

Lead development and customer adoption of advanced backend design and signoff flows for Cadence Virtuoso targeting leading-edge process nodes. This is a customer-facing engineering role that combines physical design methodology, EDA tooling, and direct customer engagement to enable efficient implementation and influence product direction.

Senior-level. Typical expectation: 7 6+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Develop, validate, and maintain advanced backend and signoff flows for Virtuoso on advanced process nodes.
• Work directly with customers to understand requirements, reproduce issues, and deliver practical solutions and best practices.
• Create automation, scripts, and tools to improve flow robustness and designer productivity.
• Collaborate with R&D engineering teams to drive fixes and influence future product capabilities.
• Produce technical documentation, training materials, and conduct customer trainings or workshops.
• Troubleshoot complex integration and signoff problems in customer designs and flows.

Requirements

Essential skills and attributes:

• Strong experience in custom IC backend design, layout, and signoff flows.
• Deep familiarity with Virtuoso layout environments and advanced-node methodologies.
• Proficiency in automation and scripting (SKILL, Python, Perl, or UNIX shell).
• Proven ability to engage with customers and translate technical problems into solutions.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues and collaborating effectively with R&D teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication, documentation, and training skills.

Education Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 9+ years of relevant experience, or MS in a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience.
