Principal Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
The Principal Physical Design Engineer will lead and deliver physical implementation for complex ASIC/SoC projects within the Bengaluru engineering team. The role focuses on floorplanning, placement, timing closure and signoff while collaborating with RTL, verification and EDA/tool teams to meet performance, power and area targets.
At the principal level you will set technical direction, improve methodology and mentor other engineers.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Lead physical design implementation from floorplan to signoff for SoC/ASIC projects.
- Define and drive physical design flows, constraints, and signoff criteria.
- Collaborate with RTL, timing, verification, DFT and backend teams to resolve timing and integration issues.
- Develop and maintain automation and scripts to improve productivity and quality.
- Mentor and review the work of other physical-design engineers and contribute to team technical direction.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:
- Proven experience in ASIC/SoC physical design and signoff flows.
- Hands-on experience with place-and-route and signoff tools and flows; familiarity with STA and timing-closure methodologies.
- Proficiency in scripting (Tcl, Python or similar) for flow automation.
- Strong problem solving, cross-team communication and technical leadership.
- Nice-to-have: experience with advanced nodes, low-power design techniques, or EDA tool development.
