Principal NAND Reliability Product Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for defining, evaluating, and safeguarding the extrinsic and intrinsic reliability of NAND Flash products through test development, large-scale data analysis, electrical failure analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. The role provides technical ownership at the intersection of device physics, circuits, process technology, and product engineering.

Works with Fab, NAND Technology, NAND Design, Product Development, System Development, and Quality/Reliability teams to prevent reliability escapes, qualify products, and enable shipment of robust end products.

Experience Level

Senior — role requires substantial experience; typical guidance in the posting: Bachelor's +10 years, Master's +7 years, PhD +5 years of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include test definition, data-driven risk assessment, failure analysis, countermeasure development, and cross-functional leadership.

• Define and implement NAND Flash reliability test flows to assess product performance and prevent extrinsic/intrinsic reliability escapes.
• Perform high-volume statistical data analysis to evaluate DPM/intrinsic reliability risks and trends.
• Drive electrical failure analysis and advanced characterization to identify root causes and solution spaces.
• Develop short-term countermeasures (targeted stresses and screens) leveraging knowledge of digital/analog circuits, device physics, and process engineering.
• Qualify products with control measures to achieve best-in-class DPM and cell reliability.
• Collaborate with fabrication, design, technology, product, system, and quality teams to develop solutions and enable shipments.
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights to improve efficiency, quality, and effectiveness while following organizational and legal standards.
• Support customer inquiries and provide technical insights related to product reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive strategic initiatives to improve the reliability program.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required (education items are listed separately under Education Requirements).

• Proven experience in semiconductor reliability, NAND technology, and electrical failure analysis.
• In-depth background across NAND design, device physics, circuits, process, test, and validation.
• Strong statistical analysis skills and experience with large-scale data interpretation.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and mentoring engineers.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted tools and practical application of AI/LLMs for research, analysis, or operational tasks.
• Experience with data-analysis and visualization tools (examples: Python, JMP, Tableau).
• Strong written and verbal communication, problem solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
