Job Title
Principal Mixed-Signal/Analog Design Engineer - Power/ATE
Role Summary
Staff-level analog/mixed-signal IC design engineer responsible for developing high-performance mixed-signal ICs and companion DC/DC converters for ATE power management. Role includes architecture, circuit design, verification, lab debug, layout supervision, and cross-functional integration.
Position supports product development from concept through production release and requires collaboration with digital design, verification, layout, test, and product teams. Based in Colorado Springs, CO (role may also be located in Wilmington, MA per original posting).
Experience Level
Senior level — principal/technical-lead role. Posting indicates 10+ years of relevant experience is expected.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and evaluate system and circuit architectures for ATE power management solutions.
- Design, simulate, and verify mixed-signal circuits: highly linear amplifiers, bias blocks, switches, DFX, digital I/O, LDOs, ADCs, DACs, and companion DC/DC converters.
- Drive design from concept through production release, including design optimization for power, performance, and area.
- Supervise layout activities and run post-layout simulations; provide layout guidance to ensure correct parasitic extraction and performance.
- Perform lab evaluation, characterization, and debug; provide test development guidance to evaluation teams.
- Prepare design documentation and lead design reviews.
- Collaborate with digital design, verification, packaging, and cross-functional teams to integrate and verify block and system-level behavior.
- Provide technical mentorship and leadership to junior engineers and project teams.
Requirements
Essential technical skills, tools, and constraints required to perform the role.
Must-have
- Expertise in designing and verifying highly linear amplifiers, bias blocks, switches, DFX, digital I/O, LDOs, ADCs, and DACs.
- Extensive experience with Cadence design, simulation, layout, and verification tools for analog and mixed-signal designs.
- Strong transistor-level intuition and analytical understanding of CMOS device models; solid semiconductor device physics knowledge (CMOS transistors, diodes, MIM capacitors, integrated inductors, implanted resistors).
- Advanced circuit analysis skills, including high-frequency and temperature effects and model limitations.
- Hands-on lab experience characterizing and debugging mixed-signal designs and performing extracted simulations with package/layout parasitics.
- Proven track record of bringing analog/mixed-signal products to production and providing technical leadership across disciplines.
- Willingness/ability to travel approximately 10% of the time; daytime/first-shift work.
- Ability to obtain export licensing approval when required (non-US citizens/permanent residents may be subject to export licensing review).
Nice-to-have
- Experience with analog/digital behavioral modeling and digital control block synthesis.
- High-voltage design experience and multi-die SiP/level-laminate expertise.
- Prior experience leading teams or major projects.
Education Requirements
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of the degree.
