Job Title

Principal FPGA / RTL Design Engineer – Signal Processing

Role Summary

Senior individual contributor on the FPGA Engineering team at Silvus Technologies (a Motorola Solutions subsidiary). Lead architecture, RTL development, and implementation of signal-processing blocks for MIMO wireless networking products from concept through field deployment.

Position is based in West Los Angeles on a hybrid schedule (minimum three days onsite per week: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday).

Experience Level

Senior - typically 10+ years of professional RTL/FPGA design experience (alternatively 8 years with an M.S., or 6 years with a Ph.D.).

Responsibilities

Design, implement, verify, and support FPGA-based signal processing for wireless systems. Collaborate with systems, RF, and software teams.

  • Architect digital designs for wireless communication projects.
  • Design fixed-point signal-processing blocks in collaboration with systems engineers.
  • Write RTL, develop simulation testbenches, and run verification flows.
  • Perform FPGA synthesis, timing closure, and resource optimization.
  • Hardware verification and troubleshooting; use of logic analyzers and lab test equipment.
  • Support RF and software engineering teams during integration and testing.
  • Participate in R&D activities aimed at advanced wireless system features and deployments.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, security/eligibility, and employment conditions.

  • Minimum demonstrated RTL design and FPGA implementation experience (see Experience Level for specific years).
  • Proven experience with fixed-point binary arithmetic and digital signal-processing implementations.
  • Experience handling multiple clock domains and high-utilization FPGA designs.
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGAs, SoCs, and the Vivado toolchain.
  • Familiarity with hardware debug and verification tools (logic analyzers, lab instrumentation).
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident) due to U.S. federal contract requirements.
  • Employment contingent on successful background check and drug test.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and perform occasional field demonstrations and lab activities.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is specified. Alternate experience thresholds are allowed: 10+ years of RTL/FPGA experience with a B.S.; 8+ years with an M.S.; 6+ years with a Ph.D. M.S. or Ph.D. in relevant fields is listed as preferred in the posting.
