Job Title
Principal Field Applications Engineer, Silicon
Role Summary
Serve as the primary technical lead for customer evaluations and deployments of Arm-based server silicon, coordinating across board, firmware, OS, and workload layers to shorten time-to-value and achieve production readiness.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 8+ years in field applications engineering, systems engineering, silicon applications, or customer engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership for customer engagements from evaluation through production deployment.
- Act as the primary technical interface for customers evaluating and deploying server-class Arm silicon.
- Lead the product evaluation lifecycle: goal-setting, pre-delivery checks, Day-0 acceptance, execution, remote support, and post-eval closeout.
- Run board bring-up and debug across board, firmware, kernel/OS, and workload layers.
- Drive Day-0 readiness and acceptance gates (BMC, console, firmware baseline, boot path, diagnostics).
- Triage customer issues, define severity, collect evidence, and escalate to L2/L3 engineering as needed.
- Support workload enablement and performance tuning for cloud-native, AI, and enterprise workloads.
- Review customer design artifacts and platform integration plans.
- Deliver training and enablement for customer engineering teams and partner operators.
- Translate field feedback into product and roadmap improvements and support content.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 8+ years in FAE, systems engineering, silicon applications engineering, or customer engineering roles.
- Direct hands-on experience with companies that build and deliver servers and network infrastructure (hyperscalers, CSPs, OEM/ODM server vendors, NIC/switch vendors).
- Strong server platform expertise: CPU/memory hierarchy, PCIe, CXL awareness, NUMA fundamentals, and firmware/OS bring-up.
- Linux systems troubleshooting and performance analysis experience in data center environments.
- Proven experience supporting customers from pre-sales evaluation through post-silicon deployment.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills; able to explain technical tradeoffs to engineers and executives.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with large-scale data center networking and server integration at rack/cluster level.
- Familiarity with board bring-up workflows, diagnostics, and lab instrumentation.
- Prior support of Tier-1 hyperscalers or major enterprise infrastructure programs.
- Experience collaborating across regions (US, Europe, China, Japan).
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science required; Master’s degree preferred.
