Job Title

Principal Fab Test Engineer

Role Summary

The Principal Fab Test Engineer owns one or more wafer-level prober and tester tool groups used for analog DC, linear and non-linear RF parametric measurements and wafer sort. This role combines hands-on equipment ownership, measurement verification, and software interfacing with MES and data systems.

Work is performed within the Wireless Semiconductor Division (Fort Collins fab) to maintain production throughput, improve measurement capability, and support R&D/NPI measurement requirements.

Experience Level

Senior level β€” requires a minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Responsible for ensuring tool availability, measurement quality, and implementing strategic improvements to test capability.

  • Provide technical leadership for owned test tool sets; establish project objectives and schedules.
  • Identify, select, purchase, install, qualify and release new tool components and instruments.
  • Work with vendors to debug and optimize tool performance.
  • Maintain continuous wafer/lot flow by reviewing control charts, calibration coefficients, and reference wafer results; resolve tester-related holds/dispositions.
  • Investigate lot incident reports, scrap, PNM events and tool interrupts; implement corrective actions.
  • Create and update tool FMEAs and implement robust monitoring (e.g. FDC / SECS-GEM) to detect excursions early.
  • Develop and document operating and maintenance procedures; train and certify team members.
  • Lead measurement capability improvement projects and migrations for R&D and NPI.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and capabilities.

  • Proven experience with wafer-level analog DC, linear and non-linear RF measurements (DC–20+ GHz).
  • Configuration, setup and programming experience with EG4090 and TEL probers.
  • Probe card technologies and maintenance (Cantilever, Vertical, GSG, Pyramid, etc.).
  • Strong component-level electrical and circuit knowledge; instrument measurement capability, accuracy and repeatability.
  • Software development on Linux and Windows platforms; proficiency with Python and GitLab workflows/version control.
  • Experience interfacing test systems with MES and handling test data (sampling and wafer sort).
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC), DOE and statistical hypothesis testing for measurement analysis.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for process/equipment/measurement interactions and structured problem solving.
  • Experience creating and owning PDCAs, E-TCOs, D-TCOs and performing root-cause analysis.
