Principal Engineer, Systems Design/Architecture Engineering
Role Summary
Lead system-level design and architecture for high-speed analog/digital CMOS integrated circuits on the ADI Industrial team in Wilmington, MA. Develop wireline transmit/receive solutions, mixed-mode DFEs, and high-speed custom digital circuits; collaborate with chiplet and system integration teams and mentor engineering staff.
Experience Level
Senior β 7+ years of relevant experience in system design/architecture engineering and design integration.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical leadership across system and circuit design, drive integration with cross-functional teams, and communicate results to stakeholders.
- Lead the design and architecture of complex high-speed systems to meet performance and reliability targets.
- Design wireline transmitters and receivers.
- Develop mixed-mode decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) designs.
- Apply analog and digital wireline equalization techniques.
- Design custom high-speed digital circuits and digitally-assisted high-speed analog blocks.
- Collaborate with chiplet and system integration teams to integrate designs into larger products.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
- Present design concepts and results to engineering and business stakeholders.
- Travel: up to 10% as required.
Requirements
Core technical skills and domain experience required for immediate contribution.
- 7+ years of system design/architecture engineering and design integration experience.
- Proven experience in high-speed CMOS and/or data converter design.
- Expertise in FinFET process nodes (e.g., 16nm, 5nm) or fine-line planar analog CMOS (e.g., 28nm).
- Experience with software-defined CMOS communications or radar system design.
- Proficiency in digitally-assisted high-speed analog design techniques.
- Strong presentation, technical writing, and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members.
- Preferred: strong analytical/problem-solving skills and project management capability.

Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
