Principal Engineer – SSD PDT Lead

Role Summary

Lead technical delivery of SSD products from design through high-volume manufacturing, focusing on customer success, product qualification, and cross-functional coordination.

Provide technical leadership to engineering, validation, qualification, and customer-facing teams; manage schedules, budgets, risk mitigation, and lessons learned across product cycles.

Experience Level

Senior — requires substantial experience; the posting indicates approximately 10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include managing SSD product delivery, customer interaction, and cross-functional technical direction.

  • Drive SSD products from design through high-volume manufacturing and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Lead customer core team meetings and translate customer expectations into product requirements.
  • Manage qualification testing, debug failures, and provide technical direction to engineering teams.
  • Conduct technical discussions, design reviews, and root-cause / failure-analysis reporting.
  • Coordinate requirement changes, manage timelines and budgets, and monitor project risks with mitigation plans.
  • Guide validation, qualification, integration, and system-level debugging efforts.
  • Capture and implement lessons learned to improve future product cycles and ensure test coverage and quality assurance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and tools for the role.

  • SSD product design knowledge: NAND flash, DRAM, SSD ASIC, firmware flows, media management, and SSD security.
  • System-level debug and integration experience.
  • Familiarity with PCIe/NVMe protocols and OCP specifications.
  • Experience with debug tools such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
  • Datacenter system applications and system-level design experience.
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Nice-to-have: prior experience leading cross-functional teams in qualification and manufacturing environments.

Education Requirements

Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
