Principal Engineer, Security Product Marketing (RZ MPU Family)

Role Summary

Lead product security strategy and definition for the Renesas RZ MPU family (RZ/G, RZ/V, RZ/T, RZ/N), aligning applied security, market requirements, and product realization across silicon, software, and system levels.

Based in Kodaira, Japan; this role collaborates with product management, engineering, standards bodies, and ecosystem partners to deliver compliant, secure MPU solutions for industrial automation, robotics, edge AI, and connected infrastructure. Hybrid work model: two remote days per week; core office days Tuesday–Thursday.

Experience Level

Senior — minimum 10+ years of relevant experience in semiconductor, embedded systems, or security-focused roles.

Responsibilities

Accountable for defining and executing product security strategy, translating requirements into product capabilities, and leading standards and certification efforts.

• Define security strategy and roadmap for the RZ MPU portfolio.
• Perform threat modeling, system-level security assessments, and competitive benchmarking.
• Translate global regulations and standards (e.g., CRA, RED, PSA, SESIP, NIST) into actionable product requirements.
• Specify security IP, middleware, software stacks, and platform-level capabilities (secure boot, key management, TEE).
• Lead technology pathfinding (post-quantum cryptography, hardware root of trust, secure lifecycle management, model protection).
• Drive certification and compliance programs (PSA Certified, SESIP, CAVP, CMVP) and audit readiness.
• Develop reference architectures, POCs, and solution concepts; collaborate with ecosystem partners for complete solutions.
• Engage customers and field teams; provide technical enablement and cross-functional leadership.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in embedded security architectures: secure boot, cryptography, key management, trusted execution environments.
• Proven experience with security standards, certifications, and regulatory frameworks (PSA, SESIP, NIST, CRA).
• Familiarity with MPU/SoC architectures, Linux-based systems, and embedded software stacks.
• Minimum 10+ years in semiconductor, embedded systems, or security-related roles with product definition, technical marketing, or system architecture responsibilities.
• Track record of cross-functional collaboration with product management, engineering, FAEs, and external partners.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to convert technical concepts into product strategy and requirements.
• Experience engaging with standards bodies or certification organizations is highly desirable.
