Principal Engineer, R&D Engineering (Proteus OPC/MEC/RET)
Role Summary
Product engineer for the Proteus OPC/MEC/RET team responsible for partnering with R&D and leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing customers to develop, prototype, and deploy computational lithography solutions.
Primary responsibilities include prototyping and productizing OPC/MEC/RET features (including machine learning), building GPU-based solutions, providing customer-facing technical support, and creating training and documentation.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 10+ years of experience in the semiconductor field with a focus on computational lithography.
Responsibilities
The role combines customer engagement, technical development, and field support.
- Partner with semiconductor manufacturing customers and R&D to define, develop, and deploy new features.
- Create specifications for prototypes, review and approve functional specifications.
- Prototype OPC/MEC/RET solutions, including machine learning approaches, and collaborate with R&D to productize them.
- Develop and optimize GPU-based implementations and HPC workflows.
- Work with field support teams and customers to resolve difficult production issues and assist FAEs in debugging customer problems.
- Prepare training materials and deliver trainings to application engineers and customers.
- Collaborate with technical publications to produce official product documentation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and professional competencies.
- Proven experience in computational lithography and semiconductor manufacturing workflows.
- Proficiency in Python and scripting; experience with C++.
- Experience with high-performance computing technologies and GPU development.
- Strong troubleshooting and production-debugging skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and teamwork skills; customer-facing experience.
- Ability to multitask, switch focus quickly, and work independently.
Education Requirements
B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physical Sciences.
