Role Summary
The Principal Engineer Physical Design will work on the physical design and methodology for high-performance processor chips within a central physical design team. This role focuses on multiple SoC programs, leading various implementation stages and ensuring successful project execution.
Experience Level
Senior level with 15+ years of progressive experience in back-end physical design and verification.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include:
- Shaping the long-term vision for physical design capabilities.
- Leading RTL-to-GDSII implementation for SoC programs.
- Providing strategic leadership and technical direction.
- Mentoring and developing engineering talent.
- Overseeing team structure and performance management.
- Driving cross-functional collaboration with design teams.
- Navigating cross-functional conflicts to maintain project momentum.
- Developing next-generation physical design methodologies.
- Managing project schedules, resources, and risk.
- Collaborating with EDA vendors and internal teams.
Requirements
The following skills and experiences are required:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in back-end physical design.
- Strong leadership experience and track record in SoC project management.
- Expertise in physical design methodologies and advanced process nodes.
- Strong ASIC design flow knowledge and understanding of EDA tools.
- Proficiency in Tcl, Python, or Perl for automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in advanced physical design methodologies.
- Familiarity with AI/ML optimization is a plus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
