Principal Engineer - Physical Design

Role Summary

The Principal Engineer - Physical Design will be responsible for leading physical design projects at Microchip. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure the successful implementation of designs while maintaining high performance and quality standards.

Experience Level

Senior Level, typically requiring 5+ years of experience in physical design and related fields.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

• Leading physical design efforts for complex ASICs.
• Collaborating with design and verification teams to ensure optimal design flow.
• Conducting design reviews and optimizing layouts for power, performance, and area.
• Mentoring junior engineers in physical design techniques and best practices.
• Staying updated with the latest industry trends and design methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

• Expertise in physical design tools and methodologies.
• Strong experience with ASIC design flows and EDA tools.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Tcl or Python.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

• Experience with advanced technology nodes.
• Familiarity with DFM and DFY practices.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
