Principal Engineer HBM Layout

Role Summary

Layout engineer on the High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) team in Guadalajara, Mexico. Responsible for creating and delivering block-level and full-chip layout for analog, mixed-signal and custom-digital blocks used in AI and high-performance computing applications.

Work with global engineering teams across multiple simultaneous projects to meet schedule, quality, and integration requirements.

Experience Level

Senior / Principal — requires substantial hands-on layout experience; minimum demonstrated experience: 5+ years in analog/custom layout (per minimum qualifications).

Responsibilities

Primary duties for the layout engineer role.

• Design and develop analog, mixed-signal and custom-digital block layouts and support full-chip integration.
• Perform physical verification: LVS, DRC, antenna checks, and quality documentation.
• Deliver block-level layouts on schedule with acceptable quality and verification sign-off.
• Lead planning tasks: area/time estimation, scheduling, delegation, and execution across multiple projects.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with global engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience.

• 5+ years of analog/custom layout experience in advanced CMOS processes (planar and FinFET).
• Expertise with Cadence VLE/VXL and Mentor Graphics Calibre DRC/LVS.
• Hands-on experience creating layouts for critical analog blocks (temperature sensors, PLL, ADC, DAC, LDO, bandgap, reference generators, charge pumps, current mirrors, comparators, differential amplifiers, etc.).
• Solid knowledge of analog layout fundamentals: matching, electromigration, latch-up, coupling/crosstalk, IR-drop, and parasitics.
• Understanding of how layout affects circuit speed, capacitance, power and area; ability to implement layout under design constraints.

Nice-to-have

• Experience supporting multiple tape-outs.
• Experience managing multiple layout projects and enforcing quality checks throughout layout development.
• Strong problem-solving skills in physical verification of custom layouts.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or MTech in Electronics, VLSI Engineering, or a related technical field as specified in the minimum qualifications.
