Role Summary

The Principal Engineer for Technology and Foundry Interface will work within the Compute Silicon & Manufacturing Engineering (CSME) organization at Microsoft. This team focuses on the design, development, manufacturing, and packaging of advanced computer chips to support Microsoft's cloud business operations.

Experience Level

Senior level with extensive experience in engineering, requiring 3 to 9 years depending on educational background.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities include:

  • Lead technical interactions with external foundries for pre-silicon design and post-silicon development.
  • Compile and analyze data using statistical techniques; present key results with recommendations.
  • Define and design engineering structures in test chips for technology enablement.
  • Provide comprehensive analysis for power, performance, area, and cost.

Requirements

Required qualifications:

  • Doctorate in relevant fields and 3+ years of experience, or equivalent education and experience combinations.
  • Ability to meet security screening requirements upon hiring.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 9+ years of related technical engineering experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor process development and manufacturing.
  • Understanding of device physics, process qualifications, and yield improvement.
  • Experience with EDA tools and coding in languages such as Python, Java, and C++.

Education Requirements

Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
