Job Title
Principal Engineer, Electrical Design
Role Summary
Design and develop switching power MOSFETs for 12V–80V applications across the full product cycle: architecture, device-structure development, TCAD simulation, test and characterization, and collaboration with process integration and IC design teams.
Position sits within device engineering/manufacturing and focuses on delivering manufacturable, high-performance power devices and supporting product yield and reliability.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 7+ years of experience in power semiconductor device engineering.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop high-performance switching MOSFETs leveraging device physics and available manufacturing capabilities.
- Define and optimize device structures and proprietary process flows for performance, ruggedness, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Design and run TCAD simulation experiments to identify critical process and design parameters.
- Collaborate with fab/process engineers to develop new process recipes and design rules.
- Plan and execute process and layout experiments for engineering lots to reduce development cycle time.
- Execute test-mask and product-mask layouts with CAE support and define testing/characterization methods.
- Analyze measured device and test-structure data to optimize design and process; provide engineering support to maintain yield and performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Expertise in power semiconductor devices, device physics, and device reliability.
- Experience with TCAD modeling and simulation.
- Device layout experience and familiarity with mask execution and CAE workflows.
- Experience developing process flows, identifying critical design parameters, and working with fab/process engineers.
- Ability to develop test and characterization techniques and analyze measured device data.
- Understanding of switched-mode power applications, packaging and PCB parasitics impacts on switching, and thermal implications of package/PCB materials; knowledge of MOSFET driver requirements.
Nice-to-have:
- Demonstrated track record of commercially successful power MOSFET developments.
- Direct experience with advanced switching MOSFET structures.
Education Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant technical field (examples: Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or similar). The posting specifies 7+ years of experience in power semiconductor device engineering in addition to the graduate degree requirement.
