Principal Engineer - Applications Engineering

Role Summary

The Principal Engineer in Applications Engineering will focus on semiconductor design, utilizing advanced EDA tools and methodologies to drive design efficiency and innovation. You will engage with both internal teams and external clients, translating complex technical requirements into actionable design strategies.

Experience Level

This position requires a seasoned professional with at least 12 years of direct hands-on experience in semiconductor design, specifically in backend physical design and optionally frontend synthesis.

Responsibilities

• Engage in frontend synthesis and backend physical design tasks.
• Utilize PnR tools like ICCII or Fusion Compiler.
• Apply your knowledge of advanced process nodes, physical design, and low power design methodologies.
• Develop scripts to automate design processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align project goals.

Requirements

Proven experience with PnR tools such as ICCII or Fusion Compiler, along with solid scripting skills in languages like Perl and TCL. Strong proficiency in backend design, and a foundational understanding of frontend design are expected, alongside exceptional communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Education Requirements

A BS/MS degree in a related field is required, complemented by significant professional experience in semiconductor design.
