Principal Engineer AI SDK

Role Summary

Technical lead for Linux-based AI SDK development on RISC-V AI hardware. Drive architecture, development, and production of embedded AI software stacks, including BSPs, kernel drivers, tooling, and integration with ML frameworks.

This is a senior individual contributor role with broad cross-functional scope and responsibility for SDK performance, stability, and developer usability.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 10+ years of experience in software engineering, hardware architecture, Linux SDKs, ML systems, or related fields.

Responsibilities

Deliver the Linux software SDK and ensure its readiness for production use:

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of the end-to-end Linux SDK (BSP, kernel drivers, firmware/OS bring-up).
• Optimize neural network acceleration and memory/subsystem interactions on SoC architectures.
• Integrate compiler/runtime toolchains and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) with on-device stacks.
• Build developer tooling, debugging aids, and performance profiling workflows.
• Establish automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and performance regression testing.
• Collaborate across hardware, firmware, software, and product teams to drive technical consensus.
• Produce clear technical documentation and communicate design tradeoffs to varied audiences.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

• 10+ years delivering software for embedded systems, Linux-based SDKs, or ML systems.
• Deep expertise in CPU/SoC architecture, memory hierarchies, and Linux internals.
• Proven experience with BSPs, kernel driver development, and firmware/OS bring-up.
• Experience integrating AI compiler infra or runtimes (MLIR-based toolchains, IREE, TVM, TFLite, or equivalent).
• Experience building CI/CD, automated test frameworks, system observability, and performance regression systems.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, technical leadership without direct authority, and clear technical writing.
• Experience bridging SoC hardware to production ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).

Education Requirements

BS required; MS preferred in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
