Role Summary

Join the QuestaSim (simulation) R&D team to architect and implement advanced algorithms and software components for industry-leading electronic design automation (EDA) simulation tools. Lead technical initiatives from conception through delivery while collaborating with senior engineers on complex problems.

Position operates on a hybrid schedule based in Austin, TX and focuses on simulation performance, compiler-related optimizations, and production-quality software engineering.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 15–25 years of professional software engineering experience as stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system architecture, algorithm design, and producing production-grade simulation software.

• Architect and design algorithms and software components for simulation tools.
• Define and implement solutions for complex, open-ended technical problems.
• Develop, optimize, and extend production-quality components, engines, and codebases.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to solve difficult software and performance problems.
• Drive technical direction for strategic projects and ensure delivery of milestones.
• Promote continuous improvement in software design, testing, and performance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and constraints for the role.

• Extensive experience architecting and implementing large-scale software systems.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++, data structures, and algorithms.
• Deep understanding of compiler concepts and optimizations.
• Proven experience developing on UNIX and/or Linux platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results independently and solve complex problems.
• Position subject to U.S. export control requirements (ITAR/EAR); employment contingent on U.S. Person status or necessary export authorization.

Nice-to-have:

• Prior experience in EDA, simulation engines, or high-performance computing.
• Experience improving legacy codebases and scaling simulation performance.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited institution (as stated in the posting).
