Principal DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Work on SoC DFT activities across the product lifecycle for Broadcom ASIC designs, including DFT architecture, insertion, verification, pattern generation, coverage improvement, post‑silicon debug and yield improvement. Collaborate with Physical Design & STA and occasionally with external customers.

Experience Level

Senior level. Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver DFT solutions and support product test metrics through design, verification and debug:

• Define and implement DFT architecture and test insertion for SoCs.
• Perform DFT verification, pattern generation and vector simulation to improve test coverage.
• Execute MBIST, ATPG and IJTAG methodologies and coverage improvement activities.
• Support post‑silicon debug and yield improvement efforts.
• Work with Physical Design & STA for DFT mode timing closure.
• Coordinate with cross‑geography teams and interact with external customers as required.
• Independently manage tasks and supervise or mentor other team members when needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of essential and desirable items.

• In‑depth knowledge of DFT concepts and hands‑on experience with ATPG, MBIST and IJTAG.
• Proven experience in DFT insertion & verification, pattern generation, coverage improvement, and vector simulation.
• Experience with post‑silicon debug and improving test/yield metrics; strong problem‑solving and debugging ability.
• Proficiency in scripting (Perl, shell) to automate flows and debug tasks.
• Ability to work independently and lead or supervise small teams; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Nice to have: experience with Mentor Graphics Tessent DFT tools.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (required with 12+ years relevant experience) or Master's degree (required with 10+ years relevant experience). No alternate degree fields or certifications specified.
