Job Title
Principal Applications Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate high-density power solutions and support their deployment for AI and data-center customers. Responsibilities include IC and system-level circuit debug, creating datasheets and application notes, developing reference circuits, and delivering technical training and customer support.
The role works cross-functionally with design engineers, field applications, marketing, and manufacturing to define power modules/ICs and ensure successful product delivery.
Experience Level
Senior β Principal-level. Specific years of experience not stated in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and design power modules and ICs for AI and data-center applications.
- Design high-density converters including 800V isolated DC-DC, 48V intermediate-bus, and 12V multiphase buck converters.
- Perform IC- and system-level circuit debugging, validation, and optimization.
- Develop application reference circuits and system-level power management solutions for HPC, networking, server, and cloud markets.
- Write and maintain datasheets, application notes, and technical documentation.
- Provide application support and technical training to customers and field application engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to oversee manufacturing and ensure product delivery.
Requirements
Key qualifications β must-haves first, then preferred items.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with switch-mode power conversion (DC-DC, AC-DC, inverters, or power-management IC applications).
-
Must-have: Demonstrated design, validation, debug, or optimization experience with high-density DC-DC converters, 800V isolated DC-DC, 48V intermediate-bus architectures, or multiphase buck converters for CPU/GPU power delivery.
-
Must-have: Ability to develop and communicate reference designs, test results, application guidance, and technical documentation.
-
Must-have: Strong written, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills in English; comfortable collaborating with customers and internal teams.
-
Must-have: Self-motivated, hands-on problem solver.
-
Preferred: Experience with PMICs, power modules, power supplies, or semiconductor applications.
-
Preferred: Experience at a power-supply manufacturer, power-semiconductor or power-management IC company, or system-power architect company.
Education Requirements
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) or higher required.
