Principal Applications Engineer
Role Summary
The Principal Applications Engineer supports customers in the Defense & Aerospace business unit by recommending and implementing Qorvo RF and microwave products for system-level applications. The role works closely with customers, Sales, Product Line Managers and design teams to enable product integration, produce application documentation, and resolve system issues.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal level). Minimum 12 years of RF/Microwave industry experience as an Applications or Design Engineer.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support for RF and microwave active and passive products across multiple applications.
- Support products for Radar, EW, communications, and space applications as part of the Applications Engineering team.
- Collaborate with customers, Sales and Marketing to grow business in the Defense & Aerospace market.
- Determine and evaluate customer requirements and recommend solutions, including design-in and system integration assistance.
- Troubleshoot customer system implementations of Qorvo products.
- Create and maintain product datasheets, application notes, evaluation boards, and customer training materials in coordination with design teams and product managers.
- Support new product introductions to ensure customer requirements are met and perform competitive technical analysis and benchmarking.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- Minimum 12 years experience in the RF/Microwave industry as an Applications or Design Engineer.
- Working knowledge of GaN and GaAs RF/microwave semiconductors for discrete and MMIC power amplifiers, LNAs, phase shifters, limiters, converters, switches, and filters.
- Proficient using test equipment: spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, load pull systems, and related test equipment.
- Experience with linear and nonlinear simulation using ADS or MWO CAD tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate directly with customers.
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Occasional travel required.
Nice-to-have:
- Design engineering experience.

Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required; Master of Science preferred with a focus on RF/Microwave technology.
