Job Title
Principal Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and architect high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits for silicon-photonic transceivers and electronic ICs to deliver scalable, low-power, high-performance EICs for optical compute and interconnects.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across photonics, system, packaging, layout, and validation to convert system requirements into AMS architectures and production-ready designs.
Experience Level
Senior — 10+ years of analog/mixed-signal (AMS) design experience; principal-level responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, circuit design, verification, and test planning for high-speed AMS systems.
- Perform top-down architectural analysis of AMS subsystems and define detailed AMS requirements.
- Translate digital and photonics subsystem requirements into AMS specifications and architectures.
- Evaluate and select high-performance analog topologies to meet noise, linearity, power, and silicon area targets.
- Apply digitally assisted analog techniques and determine analog/digital partitioning to meet AI application needs.
- Drive transistor-level feasibility studies, prototypes, and circuit implementation.
- Define design specifications, verification plans, and production/bench-level test plans.
- Work closely with design, layout, production test, photonics, packaging, and system teams throughout design and production.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed below.
-
Must-have: 10+ years of AMS design experience with architecture, design, and production expertise.
-
Must-have: Expertise in high-speed analog architectures and circuits (PLL, DLL, ADC, regulators, amplifiers, TX, RX, CDRs, TIA, modulator drivers).
-
Must-have: Experience with ultra-low-power analog and digitally assisted analog circuit techniques.
-
Must-have: Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, and Verilog-A modeling.
-
Must-have: Familiarity with AMS design flows, chip assembly techniques, and collaboration with layout and production test engineers.
-
Must-have: Strong communication skills to coordinate across digital/VLSI, AI/ML, photonics, and packaging domains.
-
Nice-to-have: Direct experience with silicon photonics integrated EICs and AI-targeted system requirements.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or PhD in a related technical field (electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, or similar) is required.
