Job Title
Post Silicon Hardware Validation Staff Engineer
Role Summary
Perform hands-on post-silicon validation and electrical characterization of high-speed mixed-signal memory interface devices. Execute silicon bring-up, electrical measurements, and hardware debugging to identify failure mechanisms and improve silicon performance.
Collaborate with analog, mixed-signal, digital, SI/PI, package, and product engineering teams to drive root-cause analysis and recommend design improvements based on laboratory characterization data.
Experience Level
Senior β requires 8+ years of hands-on laboratory experience validating high-speed semiconductor devices.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include silicon bring-up, electrical measurements, debugging, and documentation.
- Execute silicon bring-up and bench validation from first silicon through production release.
- Measure and characterize electrical, timing, jitter, voltage, and signal-integrity parameters.
- Use high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs, high-speed pattern generators, network and logic analyzers, and precision power supplies.
- Apply measurement techniques such as de-embedding, high-impedance and differential probing, eye-diagram analysis, jitter analysis, and noise characterization.
- Debug issues involving signal integrity, timing margins, power delivery, termination networks, PCB effects, and package interactions.
- Correlate bench measurements with simulation and design expectations and recommend design improvements.
- Develop repeatable validation methodologies, document test setups and results, and present findings to engineering teams.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for this role.
- 8+ years of hands-on laboratory experience validating high-speed semiconductor devices.
- Strong background in high-speed analog and mixed-signal circuits, hardware validation, silicon characterization, and post-silicon validation.
- Extensive experience with oscilloscopes (20 GHz+ preferred), BERT systems, high-speed probing, signal-integrity measurements, compliance testing, eye-diagram and jitter analysis.
- Strong understanding of transmission lines, reflection and termination, crosstalk, equalization, power integrity, and high-speed PCB design fundamentals.
- Experience debugging hardware at the board, package, and silicon level; strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in a laboratory environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical findings to design and executive teams.
- Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) for test execution and data processing β used to automate measurements, not for software development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
