Job Title
Platform Integration Engineer, Silicon Validation Firmware
Role Summary
Responsible for developing and validating complex silicon systems (ASICs and SoCs) and associated firmware to enable platform integration. Work closely with cross-functional teams to bring up silicon, debug interfaces, and ensure delivery of reliable silicon solutions across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 6+ years of relevant experience in silicon design, development, and validation.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and validate ASICs/SoCs and their firmware.
- Develop and execute test plans for pre-silicon validation, emulation, and FPGA prototypes.
- Bring up and debug high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR) and resolve system-level integration issues.
- Lead adoption of methodologies to accelerate hardware verification and firmware development.
- Create and maintain tools and flows using EDA tools and scripting to support complex emulation environments.
- Partner with vendors to troubleshoot issues, deploy capabilities, and drive improvements.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 6+ years of experience in silicon design, development, and validation involving ASICs/SoCs.
- Experience with EDA tools and scripting to build tools and flows for emulation and validation environments.
- Understanding of digital logic design, RTL development, and FPGA prototyping.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware or firmware integration issues and perform system-level root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for firmware and validation scripting.
Nice-to-have:
- System debug experience with tools like Lauterbach or gdb across Virtual, FPGA, Emulation, SVB, NFF, and device platforms.
- Knowledge of chip/µarchitecture, design verification, and hardware/software co-design.
- Experience with computer vision or machine learning integration at the system level with hardware acceleration.
- Familiarity with modern CPU architecture, memory subsystems, cache hierarchies, and SoC integration flows.
- Experience enabling full verification cycles of complex SoCs (Graphics, CPU, DSP).
- Experience applying AI tools to optimize workflows and adherence to responsible AI practices.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. No specific certifications required; advanced degrees are not mandated.
