Job Title

Platform/Automation Engineer

Role Summary

Design, develop, and operate CI/CD and DevOps platform services to support Nordic Semiconductor's R&D teams. The role covers build/test orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, test-farm administration, observability, and platform security.

The engineer will collaborate with product developers across multiple R&D sites and occasionally travel for cross-site projects.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include evolving CI/CD capabilities, automating build and test workflows, and maintaining reliable platform infrastructure.

  • Plan CI/CD evolution and evaluate or roll out tooling across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain build, test, and release automation and orchestration.
  • Administer and maintain hardware test farms and test nodes.
  • Support developers on CI and platform-related topics and improve developer experience.
  • Improve observability: collect and instrument metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Harden pipelines and platform components for security (secrets, dependencies, DevSec practices).
  • Operate cloud and on-premises infrastructure (examples: AWS, Azure, vSphere).
  • Collaborate with product teams to prioritize automation and platform initiatives.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; concise list of key qualifications.

  • Proven experience managing CI/CD and orchestration servers (examples: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with infrastructure and container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
  • Proficient in Python for tooling and automation; able to develop Kubernetes services as needed.
  • Experience operating cloud and on-prem infrastructure (AWS, Azure, vSphere) and applying security best practices.
  • Experience improving observability (metrics, logs, tracing) and reliability monitoring.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; ability to support and train developers.
  • Experience with managing build/test node lifecycles and hardware test-farm operations.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in embedded or semiconductor development environments.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps tooling and secrets management systems.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree (MSc/BSc) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar engineering program (as stated in the posting).
