Job Title
Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Contract physical design engineer to perform block- and top-level place-and-route (P&R) and closure tasks for complex mixed-signal/SoC designs. Role is based in San Diego and focuses on floorplanning, timing closure, power planning and physical verification across block and top-level MSM flows.
Experience Level
Senior-level β approximately 8β10 years of relevant physical design experience.
Responsibilities
The engineer will execute physical implementation and verification tasks from netlist to GDS for blocks and top-level designs.
- Floorplanning, placement and routing for blocks and top-level MSM designs.
- Timing closure, static timing analysis and fixing timing issues.
- Clock tree synthesis (CTS) and skew management.
- Power planning and analysis, including I/R drop mitigation.
- Signal integrity (SI) prevention and fixes during implementation.
- Physical verification (PV) and signoff checks.
- Take hard-macros through P&R from netlist to GDS.
- Work on complex top-level integration and cross-block interface issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and relevant project experience.
- Hands-on experience with physical design flows: P&R, placement, routing and timing closure.
- Experience with Synopsys tools indicated in source (DC/PC), LINT and PTSI.
- Proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL for implementation and debug.
- Experience with CTS, power planning, PV and I/R drop analysis.
- Proven ability to take designs from netlist through GDS with timing closure.
- Experience handling complex top-level MSM floorplanning and integration.
- Additional listed skills from source: experience with application development and testing processes (unit testing, supporting product test/UAT), and familiarity with technical components such as Java extensions or product-rule configuration was mentioned in the original posting.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) specified in the source.
