Physical Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on ASIC/SoC physical design tasks for block-level and top-level integration, focusing on floorplanning, place-and-route, timing closure, and power/signal integrity. This is a 6+ month onsite engagement in San Diego with an immediate start.
Experience Level
Senior β 8β10 years of relevant ASIC physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform floorplanning, placement and routing for blocks and top-level MSM designs.
- Achieve timing closure using static timing analysis and related fixes.
- Perform clock tree synthesis (CTS) and clock- timing optimizations.
- Analyze and mitigate signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (I/R drop) issues.
- Plan and implement power distribution and power-aware physical design.
- Take hard macros from netlist through P&R to GDSII, including physical verification.
- Work on top-level complexity across FP, placement, CTS, routing and timing closure.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 8β10 years of ASIC physical design experience (floorplanning, P&R, timing closure).
- Hands-on experience with Synopsys DC/PC, LINT and PTSI.
- Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL for netlist handling.
- Experience with CTS, SI/PI analysis, power planning, and I/R drop fixes.
- Proven ability to take hard-macros from netlist to GDS and run physical verification.
- Ability to start immediately and work onsite in San Diego for a 6+ month engagement.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Eng. or equivalent) is specified.
