Physical Design CAD Engineer
Role Summary
Work on physical design and methodology for high-performance processor/ASIC chips across server, 5G/6G, automotive, and networking markets. Collaborate with local and global teams to deliver robust implementations in leading-edge CMOS process technologies.

Experience Level
Mid-level - typically requires around 4+ years of back-end physical design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include chip implementation, physical verification, methodology development, and cross-team integration.
- Collaborate with Digital, RTL, and Analog teams to ensure timely design convergence and integration.
- Implement and support designs through place-and-route, static timing analysis, and physical verification using standard EDA tools.
- Integrate AI-based and automated design flows to improve productivity and robustness.
- Drive design closure across cross-functional teams and supply technical direction as needed.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior engineers to achieve project outcomes.
- Develop automation and productivity scripts using Shell, Python, and TCL.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 4+ years of progressive experience in back-end physical design and verification.
- Strong understanding of RTL-to-GDSII flows and physical design methodology.
- Expertise in full-chip and sub-hierarchy integration; experience with large-design tape-outs.
- Scripting proficiency in Perl, TCL, and Python; comfortable with Shell scripting.
- Effective team player with strong communication skills.
- Nice-to-have: experience with multi-voltage and low-power design techniques and familiarity with Cadence Genus and Innovus.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
