Job Title
PD Layout Expert
Role Summary
Work within the MCU/SoC physical-design team to deliver layout closure for advanced integrated circuits. The role focuses on floorplanning, congestion management, DRC/LVS fixes, power-grid and IR-drop validation, and cross-discipline collaboration to preserve design intent through signoff.
Experience Level
Mid-level; minimum 5+ years of relevant physical-design/layout experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include executing and improving SoC layout flows, ensuring signoff correlation, and coordinating with verification and timing teams.
- Define and drive layout closure using Innovus and establish correlation with signoff results.
- Lead floorplanning, congestion analysis, and capacity planning for SoC blocks.
- Design and validate power grids; perform IR-drop analysis and drive IR-drop closure.
- Implement ECOs to resolve DRC and LVS issues and maintain design integrity.
- Collaborate with timing, ATD, ESD, and physical-verification teams to preserve design intent.
- Promote correct-by-construction methodologies (early DRC/LVS checks, NDRs, congestion avoidance).
- Automate flows and tasks via scripting; evaluate AI/ML techniques to improve flows.
Requirements
Essential and preferred skills for immediate contribution.
-
Must-have: 5+ years of relevant physical-design/layout experience with proven knowledge of floorplan, congestion analysis, and DRC practices.
-
Must-have: Practical experience driving layout closure and working with signoff flows.
-
Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with power-grid design and IR-drop validation at SoC scale.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience implementing ECOs for DRC/LVS fixes and coordinating cross-discipline closures.
-
Nice-to-have: Scripting skills in TCL, Perl, or Python for flow automation.
-
Nice-to-have: Interest or experience adopting AI/ML techniques for flow automation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (Degree Level: Bachelor's Degree). Fields of study not specified.
