Multi-Product Power & Digital FPGA Engineer II
Role Summary
Join the MPD department to develop and support production-quality FPGA designs for sensor and effector products. The role covers requirements definition, architecture, detailed design, simulation, integration, verification, documentation, and lifecycle engineering.
This position is onsite at the McKinney, TX facility and supports defense systems that require cleared personnel.
Experience Level
Entry-level β up to 12 months of relevant professional work experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include design, implementation, verification, and operational support of FPGA-based systems.
- Provide full lifecycle support for production FPGA systems from requirements through field support.
- Define FPGA architecture and implement designs in VHDL.
- Write maintainable VHDL code and perform simulation and synthesis.
- Integrate FPGA designs with PCBs and system hardware; perform lab bring-up and debugging.
- Develop and maintain requirements, verification plans, user guides, and configuration-managed documentation.
- Execute verification, validation, and performance testing; support failure analysis.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams.
- Support manufacturing and field engineering as required.

Must-have:
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; an active DoD Secret clearance is required after day 1.
- Up to 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (entry-level).
- Hands-on experience or coursework with VHDL and FPGA design.
- Familiarity with analog/digital electronics, mixed-signal or power electronics, digital signal processing, or related electrical components.
- Ability to use common lab equipment for circuit design validation and troubleshooting.
- Strong documentation skills and experience with configuration management practices.
Preferred / Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Verilog, FPGA simulation and synthesis toolflows.
- Experience with PCB design and board-level integration.
- Experience with design verification and automated test methodologies.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field is required. The posting references ABET-accredited coursework and a 3.0 cumulative GPA as a desired metric and requests transcripts (cumulative GPA and projected graduation date) with the application.
