Module Engineer (On Shift)
Role Summary
The on-shift Module Engineer provides engineering support for microelectronic package assembly and test operations, focusing on production issue resolution, experiments, and new product introductions (NPI). This role is the first engineering point of contact for manufacturing and spends the majority of time on the production floor.
The role supports recipe and process management, quality containment and mitigation, equipment troubleshooting, and cross-functional coordination with Manufacturing and Factory Quality teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typical background: Bachelor's degree plus 2+ years relevant experience, or Master's degree plus 6+ months relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities while on shift:
- Prioritize and manage daily engineering requests, experiments, and action tracking; prepare and chair alignment meetings.
- Support production and NPI: create and maintain recipes, evaluate recipe needs, and order collateral.
- Act as the first engineering contact for Manufacturing; spend >75% of time on the production floor.
- Contain, mitigate, and solve execution, quality, and equipment issues using standard tools and structured problem solving.
- Document and communicate out-of-control events, quality excursions, and equipment problems; escalate with full documentation and recommended next steps.
- Disposition and release unscheduled hold lots within 10 hours and scheduled hold lots within 24 hours.
- Support equipment technicians and manufacturing teams to resolve equipment, recipe, or parameter issues; train and certify operators on new operations.
- Consolidate and prioritize area improvement projects and support working groups and task forces with experiments and engineering data.

Must-have: Experience in semiconductor equipment development, semiconductor product development, or high-volume technology manufacturing; strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills in an operations environment.

Must-have: Ability to work on the production floor majority of time, communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, and prioritize multiple activities.

Must-have: Familiarity with process control charts, recipe management systems, equipment log analysis, and structured problem-solving tools and templates.

Must-have: Ability to document and drive initial investigation of quality excursions and recommend containment actions.

Preferred: High-volume manufacturing experience and engineering experience in a semiconductor fab or package assembly environment.

Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in those fields with 6+ months of relevant experience. The posting also allows equivalent combinations of coursework, research, internships, or prior relevant job experience to satisfy experience expectations.
