Mixed Signal Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Intern on the Platform IP mixed-signal design team based in Wilmington, MA. The role focuses on analog design automation at the intersection of machine learning and mixed-signal design, contributing to research and implementation that improve analog design productivity and design flow tooling.

This is a hands-on internship working with design engineers and researchers on project-based deliverables.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include research, development, and collaboration to advance analog design automation:

  • Develop and validate ML-based models for analog design automation tasks.
  • Analyze design data, simulation results, and layout metrics to extract actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to understand challenges and propose automation strategies.
  • Support tool development and scripting to enhance the design flow.
  • Document research findings and present progress to the team.

Requirements

Must-have vs nice-to-have summary:

  • Must-have: Practical programming or scripting ability (for example, Python) to support data analysis and tool scripting; ability to analyze technical data and work collaboratively with engineers.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch), familiarity with EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso, exposure to analog layout-aware design and design automation concepts, experience with data analysis tools (MATLAB, pandas), and strong communication skills.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Relevant coursework may include Analog IC Design, Mixed-Signal Systems, Machine Learning, and VLSI Design. No specific certifications required; equivalent related academic experience implied by enrollment.
