Job Title
Memory Circuit Design Engineer - MN Rochester
Role Summary
Join the Central Engineering Group memory team to develop memory compilers and custom memory macros for advanced process technologies. The role covers circuit and physical design, characterization, verification, and silicon bring-up for memories such as SRAMs, register-files, ROMs, and multiport memories.
Experience Level
Senior-level β requires 8+ years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification, and integration of memory circuits and physical macros.
- Analyze memory architectures and trade-offs.
- Design memory and circuit blocks at gate and transistor level.
- Perform transistor-level simulation and analysis using industry simulators.
- Run layout extraction and perform post-layout simulation and verification.
- Floorplan physical implementation and integrate leafcell layouts to build physical macros.
- Integrate and run characterization flows to extract timing and power data.
- Develop scripts to automate characterization, simulations, and verification flows.
- Specify and verify behavioral and physical memory models.
- Specify silicon test plans, correlate silicon measurements to simulation, and assist with silicon debug.
- Document design specifications, behavioral descriptions, and timing diagrams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Experience developing memory compilers or custom digital memories (SRAM, register-files, ROM, multiport).
- Deep understanding of transistor-level circuit behavior and device physics.
- Experience with signal integrity, EM/IR, and reliability analysis.
- Knowledge of memory behavioral and physical modeling.
- Familiarity with DFT schemes and chip-level integration.
- Proficient with transistor-level simulators and EDA tools; capable of running simulations and verification flows.
- Ability to develop automation scripts for characterization and verification.
- Experience with silicon testing and debug.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; able to manage multiple tasks.
Nice-to-have:
- Proficiency in Python.
- Prior experience with test setups and silicon bring-up.
Education Requirements
Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of related experience.
