Manufacturing Failure Analysis Engineer
Role Summary
Investigate electrical and mechanical failures to improve yield, quality, and reliability of semiconductor products and packages. Work on the Penang Package FA LYA team within Intel Foundry to define failure analysis strategies, perform lab evaluations, and develop methodologies that support manufacturing startup and future technologies.
Deliver technical root-cause analysis and corrective actions that directly impact product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Typical background: Bachelor's degree with 0–1 years of hands-on experience, or a Master's degree with no prior professional experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on failure investigations, methodology development, and cross-site knowledge sharing.
- Conduct failure analysis to determine root cause of defects in integrated circuits, components, subcomponents, and systems.
- Define and implement failure analysis strategies to improve yield, quality, and reliability.
- Perform lab evaluations of electrical and mechanical characteristics of materials and devices.
- Develop advanced electrical, analytical, and mechanical failure analysis methodologies for future technologies.
- Support technology and product transfer, manufacturing startup, and automation improvements in failure analysis processes.
- Analyze failure reports, recommend corrective actions, and drive shared learning across sites.
