Job Title

Manager, System Software Engineering - Factory

Role Summary

Lead a global engineering team responsible for factory-facing system software, firmware, and diagnostics for NVIDIA rack-scale GPU and DPU products. Own end-to-end delivery and quality of embedded code, application programs, and diagnostic updates used on OEM/ODM factory floors during NPI and mass production.

Partner across architecture, firmware, SWQA, product engineering, program management, compliance, security, and manufacturing partners to ensure releases meet factory readiness and minimize line-down time. Base salary range: 224,000–356,500 USD.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires senior-level experience. Typical guidance: 10+ years in the software industry with specialization in system software or firmware and at least 3+ years of engineering management or technical leadership building distributed teams.

Responsibilities

Manage team and technical processes that ensure high-quality releases reach factories and support production ramps.

  • Build, hire, mentor, and operate a global factory engineering team with follow-the-sun coverage and on-site factory presence.
  • Define factory readiness scope, validation matrices, and workflows for rack-scale products; deliver resilient, scalable solutions.
  • Own release engineering and technical leadership for firmware, software, and diagnostics reaching factories; build end-to-end infrastructure and workflows.
  • Implement CI/CD and left-shift quality practices; enforce quality gates, publish indicators, and report progress to stakeholders and executives.
  • Manage factory escalation processes: triage SLAs, 24Γ—7 coverage, root-cause analysis, and failure deflection to minimize production downtime.
  • Drive automation and AI-assisted validation, triage, and log analysis to improve operational efficiency.
  • Continuously analyze and optimize factory processes, publish SOPs, and track measurable performance targets.

Requirements

Core qualifications and experience required to perform the role.

  • 10+ years in the software industry specializing in system software and/or firmware development.
  • 3+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience, including building and leading geographically distributed teams.
  • Proven track record shipping scalable server products through factory ramps (NPI bring-up to mass production).
  • Experience collaborating with hardware, firmware, manufacturing, diagnostics, and QA teams and working with ODM/OEM partners to deliver quality servers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including executive-level reporting.
  • Ability to work across time zones and coordinate with global partners; flexible and self-directed.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with rack-scale compute architectures (e.g., GB200/GB300 NVL72) and factory bring-up.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing test flows (L6/L10/L11/L12), factory test coverage, and MES integration.
  • Hands-on experience with x86/ARM architecture and coding in C/C++ and Python; experience with SCM (Git, Perforce) and Jira.
  • Experience integrating AI/LLM tooling into engineering workflows and standing up follow-the-sun support organizations with measurable SLAs.

Education Requirements

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field β€” or equivalent practical experience.
