Machine Learning Software Engineer

Role Summary

Develop and optimise C++ and Python software components that improve performance and efficiency of Machine Learning workloads on Arm compute platforms. The role sits on an ML engineering team working across frameworks, compilers, runtimes, drivers and embedded software.

The team collaborates with ML software and hardware engineers to identify performance bottlenecks, implement optimisations and contribute to technical design and delivery of production-quality ML software.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting is aimed at experienced software engineers (mid-career); Arm is hiring across several seniority levels and will match scope to experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

• Design, implement and maintain C++ software for ML workloads and runtime components.
• Develop Python tooling, tests and automation for ML software and integrations.
• Integrate and optimise ML frameworks such as PyTorch for Arm platforms.
• Work on ML compilation, runtimes, drivers or embedded software to improve performance and efficiency.
• Perform debugging, profiling and performance analysis to identify and fix bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, ML researchers) to deliver features and improvements.
• Contribute to technical design, take ownership of larger engineering deliverables and mentor other engineers as needed.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

• Professional C++ development experience on complex software systems.
• Practical experience with Machine Learning frameworks or tooling (for example, PyTorch).
• Proficiency with Python for development, testing or tooling.
• Strong debugging and performance-analysis skills.
• Experience with collaborative development: source control, code review, testing and CI.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with ML compilers, PyTorch internals, runtimes or drivers.
• Background in embedded software, performance optimisation or hardware acceleration.
• Experience with low-level systems, compiler tooling or runtime internals.
