Lead Software Engineer

Role Summary

Work on the Protium Compiler team to design, implement, test, and support compiler software for rapid FPGA prototyping. The role focuses on code development and optimization, data-model enhancements, static timing and instrumentation implementation, and resolving customer issues in current systems.

Team responsibilities include maintaining and improving compiler toolchains used for FPGA-based prototyping and supporting users and customers with technical issues.

Experience Level

Senior (lead) engineer — responsible for technical leadership on compiler software projects.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include development, optimization, and support of compiler software:

• Design, implement, and test compiler features for the FPGA prototyping platform.
• Optimize code and improve data models for compiler performance and scalability.
• Implement static timing and instrumentation features in the toolchain.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve customer issues in existing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable prototype compilation flows.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical skills and experience.

• Must-have: Strong proficiency in C++, solid understanding of data structures and algorithms, and experience developing production-quality software.
• Preferred / Nice-to-have: Experience with static timing analysis, electronics circuit design experience, and familiarity with AI-assisted programming and testing tools.
• Experience with compiler development, performance optimization, debugging, and customer support for engineering tools is beneficial.

Education Requirements

BS degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, OR MS degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, OR new PhD graduate.
