Role Summary

The Lead RTL Silicon Design Engineer role focuses on the design, implementation, and validation of DDR memory controller solutions. This role involves cross-functional collaboration for the successful integration of calibration solutions within AMD's memory subsystem.

Experience Level

This position requires significant experience, specifically a minimum of 9 years in the relevant field, showcasing expertise in RTL design, digital design principles, and system-level architecture.

Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing and implementing firmware solutions for DDR memory controller calibration covering various DDR standards.
  • Developing calibration algorithms to ensure reliable memory operation in varying conditions and improving their accuracy and speed.
  • Creating and executing validation plans for firmware to confirm correctness and performance through system-level debug activities.
  • Cooperating with silicon design and verification teams to sync calibration firmware with hardware attributes and system needs.
  • Documenting calibration methods, firmware APIs, and algorithm functionalities following JEDEC specifications.
  • Researching emerging DDR technologies to enhance calibration methods and supporting next-gen memory interfaces.

Requirements

Candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • B.E/M.E/M.Tech or B.S/M.S in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
  • A minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in RTL design using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • In-depth knowledge of system-level architecture, including familiarity with buses like AXI/AHB.
  • Experience with circuit timing analysis and practical application of timing tools.
  • Proficiency in C, with embedded systems experience considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with memory technologies such as DDR4, DDR5, and compliance with JEDEC standards.
  • Experience with memory controller initialization and training software.
  • Skilled in version control systems like Perforce, ICManage, or Git.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team environment.

Education Requirements

Minimum educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
