Job Title
IP Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Pre-silicon verification engineer in the Memory PHY Group within Intel's Central Engineering Group. Responsible for end-to-end functional verification of DDR PHY IP for SoCs, ensuring designs meet functional, performance, and power requirements.
Work includes test-plan and testbench development, automation of validation tasks, waveform and RTL debug, and cross-functional collaboration with digital, analog, RTL, and physical-design teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level β expects approximately 5β10 years of relevant industry experience in design verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, executing, and maintaining verification for memory PHY IP.
- Create verification plans and define testbench architecture to validate IP and microarchitectural implementations.
- Develop and run directed and constrained-random tests; manage functional and code coverage goals.
- Build and maintain testbenches and automation to improve validation efficiency.
- Analyze simulation results, perform waveform-based debug, and track issues to closure across IP, subsystem, and SoC levels.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, analog and physical-design teams to verify architectural and microarchitectural features.
- Drive technical reviews, develop validation strategies and execution plans, and maintain verification infrastructure and methodology.
- Provide guidance to team members, remove roadblocks, and ensure timely resolution of verification issues.
Requirements
Core technical and professional requirements.
Must-have:
- 5β10 years of industry experience in design verification.
- Experience with SystemVerilog and verification methodologies such as OVM/UVM.
- Proven experience across the verification flow: testplan and testbench design, verification closure, waveform debug.
- Experience with functional and code coverage; VCS NLP and non-NLP simulations and gate-level simulations (GLS).
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work across multiple teams and geographies.
Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of DDRPHY validation and protocols such as DFI/DDR/LPDDR.
- Scripting skills (Python, Perl) for automation.
- Exposure to formal property verification techniques.
- Experience with Git and modern development tools; familiarity with editor/AI tools (e.g., VSCode, GitHub Copilot) is a plus.
Education Requirements
Requires a BS or MS degree (posting specifies BS or MS). The posting does not specify a field of study or list alternative certificates; it emphasizes relevant industry verification experience (5β10 years).
