Job Title

IP and Subsystem Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Perform pre-silicon functional verification for IP logic designs, developing and executing verification plans, building testbenches and environments, and collaborating with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to ensure designs meet specifications.

Work within Intel's IP development team (Data Center Group) to verify complex architectural and microarchitectural features, improve verification methodologies, and maintain verification infrastructure.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience guidance from the posting: 4+ years with a Bachelor's, 3+ years with a Master's, or applicable experience for other qualifications.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing and executing verification workstreams and maintaining verification infrastructure.

  • Develop IP verification plans and build testbenches and verification environments to validate microarchitecture specifications.
  • Execute verification plans, run system simulations, and analyze power and timing to identify potential issues.
  • Debug and reproduce pre-silicon failures and implement corrective actions to resolve failing tests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architecture, RTL, physical design) to drive verification of advanced features.
  • Document test plans and present technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
  • Maintain and enhance functional verification infrastructure, tooling, and methodologies.
  • Define and improve verification techniques and automation required for efficient IP verification.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and core experience; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM or OVM).
  • Experience developing and debugging IP-level verification environments, including constrained-random stimulus and functional coverage.
  • Hands-on experience with RTL design and validation processes.
  • Familiarity with IP validation tools and verification workflows.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Shell for test automation and tooling.
  • Experience debugging simulation and pre-silicon issues and analyzing functional failures.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Preferred:

  • Experience with protocols/standards such as PCI Express, USB, AMBA (AXI/AHB) or memory technologies (DDR, LPDDR, HBM).
  • Familiarity with performance, power, and cost optimization considerations.
  • Experience with formal verification techniques and SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 4+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years relevant experience; OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may be acceptable.
