Job Title

Internship: Power Device (Power MOSFET) Electrical Characterization and Application Evaluation

Role Summary

This is an onsite engineering internship within the Power Devices team working on next-generation Power MOSFETs targeted at AI server and data-center power systems. The intern will perform hands-on device characterization, application-circuit evaluation, data analysis, and reporting to support product development.

Work is mainly conducted in Japanese; occasional English communication with global teams is possible. Location: Takasaki.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Intended for current university or graduate students expected to graduate in March 2028.

Responsibilities

Typical tasks during the internship include experimental evaluation and reporting:

  • Plan and perform electrical characterization of Power MOSFET devices (switching, on-resistance, leakage, etc.).
  • Evaluate application circuits and measure switching losses, thermal behavior, and high-frequency performance.
  • Build and operate laboratory test setups and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal sensors).
  • Analyze measurement data, extract key metrics, and quantify impacts on system efficiency and reliability.
  • Prepare written reports and present results to the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with engineers to discuss findings and suggest improvements to devices or circuits.

Requirements

Must-have items and practical prerequisites:

  • Strong interest in power semiconductor device characterization and application-circuit evaluation (must-have).
  • Ability to obtain Student’s Personal Liability Insurance (or equivalent accident insurance) before the internship (must-have).
  • Non-Japanese nationals must be able to obtain necessary visa/permission to engage in internship activities (must-have).
  • Ability to work primarily in Japanese is expected; English communication skills are beneficial (nice-to-have).
  • Basic laboratory skills, adherence to safety procedures, and willingness to work in a hands-on lab environment (nice-to-have).

Education Requirements

Enrolled in a university or graduate program in science or engineering (electrical engineering preferred). Expected graduation: March 2028. Student status is required for internship eligibility.
