Intern C++ Developer - Graphics Compute Driver (AI, HPC)
Role Summary
Implement and test compute driver features for Intel GPUs, working on the open-source compute runtime. The role is on a cross-functional Agile team and includes mentorship, hands-on driver development, testing, and CI work.
Work model: hybrid. Primary site: Gdańsk, Poland.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship. Open to students in their 2nd–4th year; no prior professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Contribute to driver development, testing, and debugging across the software stack from API down to hardware enablement.
- Implement new driver features in modern C++.
- Help enable upcoming Intel GPU hardware, often before silicon availability.
- Debug and fix issues reported by internal teams and the open-source community.
- Write unit tests, participate in code reviews, and maintain CI workflows.
- Propose and implement improvements to tools and engineering processes.
- Work with a dedicated mentor to learn production GPU driver internals and workflows.
Requirements
Core skills and attributes required for the internship; items under "Nice-to-have" are beneficial but not mandatory.
- Working knowledge of C++.
- Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Ability and motivation to learn quickly.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- No professional experience required.
Nice-to-have
- Practical scripting experience (for example, Python).
- Exposure to 3D graphics or GPGPU pipelines and APIs such as OpenCL, CUDA, Direct3D, Vulkan, OpenGL/ES, SYCL, Level Zero.
- Personal projects or interests in AI, graphics, game development, or related areas.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a bachelor's degree (Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field). Candidate should be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of study and able to maintain student status for at least one year.
