Integrated Circuits Intern
DraperJob Title
Integrated Circuits Intern
Role Summary
The Integrated Circuits Intern in the Silicon Architecture group contributes to the design, simulation, verification, and test of integrated circuits from concept through delivery. Work includes architecture-level trade studies, top-level and block-level specification, circuit design and simulation, and collaboration with analog and digital designers and verification teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level (intern). Role is intended for current undergraduate or graduate students; no specific years of professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, simulation, verification support, and test activities for ASIC/SOC development.
- Design, simulate, and analyze circuits at functional and transistor levels using modeling and simulation tools.
- Perform architecture trade studies across analog, digital, and software implementations to optimize solutions.
- Develop top-level and block-level specifications, interface definitions, and design documentation.
- Support verification planning and participate in top-level verification activities with the verification team.
- Execute bench-level testing, generate test reports (plots, tables, evaluation criteria), and document conclusions.
- Automate parts of the design, implementation, verification, and test flows as needed.
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical results to peers and supervisors.
Requirements
Concise list of required and preferred technical skills and attributes.
- Must-have: Proficiency with Cadence or equivalent IC design tools (e.g., Virtuoso, Genus, Innovus, Tempus, Voltus); strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills; good organization and time-management.
- Must-have: Ability to work independently and in teams, adapt to changing technical priorities, and produce documentation and test reports.
- Preferred: Experience or interest in high-level mixed-signal modeling and verification tools (SystemVerilog, SV-RNM, Verilog-AMS).
- Preferred: Scripting experience for automation (e.g., Python, SKILL).
- May be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance for selected applicants.
Education Requirements
Enrolled in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program (required).
