Job Title
IC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on Design For Test (DFT) automation for ASIC/SoC development: design, develop, deploy and support design automation tools, flows and methodology used for test logic insertion, verification and production test generation.
Member of a global ASIC DFT team supporting IC designers, EDA vendors and manufacturing test flow integration.
Experience Level
Mid-level: typically 3–7 years of relevant engineering or software development experience in ASIC/DFT environments.
Responsibilities
Primary day-to-day responsibilities include development, deployment and support of DFT automation and tools:
- Develop and maintain design automation scripts and flows using Bash, Perl, Python, Tcl, Ruby.
- Implement complex tools in C/C++ for EDA/DFT workflows.
- Debug tool and flow issues in collaboration with IC designers and EDA vendors.
- Support and train engineers across multiple sites on internal tools and custom flows.
- Create documentation, training materials and methodology for DFT processes.
- Apply hardware and software skills to architect and deploy new DFT solutions and architectures.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Proficiency in scripting and programming on UNIX/Linux (Perl, Python, Tcl, Ruby, Bash; C/C++ for tool development).
- Experience with digital logic design and Verilog HDL.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals: OO design, data structures, memory and performance considerations.
- Knowledge of Scan Test architecture and practical implementation.
- Experience debugging toolchains, integrating flows, and using revision control and software development tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication for cross-site collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Streaming Scan Networks.
- Familiarity with digital timing analysis and working directly with EDA vendors.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of related experience; or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of related experience.
