Head of Semiconductor Engineering

Role Summary

The Head of Semiconductor Engineering leads semiconductor strategy, technology integration, supplier partnerships, and a global engineering team for Stellantis vehicle platforms. The role defines MCU/MPU/SoC, sensor, memory, connectivity and power IC roadmaps and ensures delivery of automotive-grade hardware platforms.

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, supplier engagement, program delivery, and building engineering capability to support software-defined vehicles.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Lead strategy, teams, and supplier relationships to deliver semiconductor-driven hardware platforms.

  • Define and integrate semiconductors used across electronic control units and vehicle platforms.
  • Guide hardware engineering teams on semiconductor selection, design, and roadmap alignment.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with semiconductor suppliers and external design partners.
  • Lead semiconductor governance and cross-functional decision-making to meet business goals.
  • Drive early life-cycle delivery using agile methods and oversee program quality for automotive-grade HW/SW.
  • Recruit, supervise, mentor, and develop engineers, contractors, interns and external partners.
  • Establish semiconductor ecosystem capabilities and collaborate with product, research, and domain teams.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and technical skill development.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience, leadership, and domain expertise. Preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Minimum 10 years related experience; at least 8 years in the semiconductor industry; at least 5 years in hardware design/electrical engineering roles.
  • Must-have: Proven hands-on experience with complex semiconductor development or manufacturing (SoC, MCU, MPU, memory, connectivity).
  • Must-have: Solid understanding of modern MPU/MCU/SoC architectures, compute trade-offs, RTOS, I/O drivers, and microcontroller integration.
  • Must-have: Experience managing engineering teams across global regions and delivering cross-functional, multi-million-dollar programs.
  • Must-have: Track record of supplier engagement and influencing semiconductor product roadmaps.
  • Nice-to-have: Automotive Tier1 or OEM experience; experience with cybersecurity for connected vehicles.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) and fail-operational system realization.
  • Nice-to-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills; additional European languages are an advantage.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field is specified. An MBA is listed as preferred (or equivalent relevant business experience). The posting allows equivalent practical/industry experience in lieu of additional academic credentials.
