Job Title

Hardware Electrical Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for electrical validation of complex SoCs on PCIe-based network interface cards within Intel's Central Engineering Group. Develops and maintains test automation and validation requirements, executes lab testing, and investigates failures across hardware, firmware, BIOS, and operating systems to ensure scheduled test completion.

This role requires regular onsite presence at the Kulim site and frequent collaboration with architecture, design, and validation teams.

Experience Level

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain scripting and software used for automated and manual testing of critical signals.
  • Develop and document electrical validation requirements for automated testing of SoCs on PCIe-based NICs.
  • Plan and execute signal integrity and IO validation tests using lab equipment and validation infrastructure.
  • Investigate and resolve issues spanning hardware, BIOS, firmware, and OS to enable test completion on schedule.
  • Analyze test results to identify design or setup issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate meetings and communicate software/test updates to team members and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience:

  • Proficiency in signal integrity testing and detailed analysis, including scope capture.
  • Hands-on experience with validation infrastructure and tools for IO and mixed-signal architectures.
  • Familiarity with datacom applications and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to debug electrical designs and resolve electrical validation issues.
  • Experience using lab equipment: digital oscilloscopes, lab power supplies, digital multimeters, thermal chambers, and general debug tools.
  • Knowledge of board circuit schematics, PCB layout and component placement.
  • Understanding of power supply sequencing/regulation, clock specifications, and board power distribution.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python and proficiency with common Microsoft tools.
  • Experience working in controlled environmental or stress test setups.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of digital systems on PCBs with high-speed interfaces and optics.
  • Familiarity with advanced electrical validation procedures and system margin testing.
  • Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in architecture, design, and validation.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting specifies approximately 1+ years of electrical validation experience in combination with a Bachelor's degree.
