Hardware Debug Senior Engineer

Role Summary

The Qualcomm Cloud System Validation team develops advanced rack level AI inference solutions for future liquid-cooled data centers. They are seeking experienced engineers to contribute to the next generation of innovative AI products.

The selected engineer will work with PCIe and Ethernet technologies, tackling customer-related failures and collaborating with global teams.

Experience Level

Mid-Career (5+ years preferred).

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities for this role include:

  • Conduct post-silicon validation for SOC interfaces, including Ethernet and PCIe.
  • Coordinate with various engineering teams for chip bring-up and issue debugging.
  • Document validation results, track chip issues, and provide optimized settings.
  • Execute validation plans and methodologies for high-speed I/Os.
  • Investigate PCIe, Memory, and RAS related customer failures.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop test patterns and debugging strategies.
  • Utilize debug tools such as protocol analyzers and JTAG for issue resolution.
  • Travel for rack-level solution deployment and validation support.
  • Deliver technical training for ODMs focused on system integration.

Requirements

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Unix/Linux, Python or Perl.
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Strong hardware debugging and analytical skills.
  • Experience in post-silicon validation and high-speed IO interfaces.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g. BERT, VNA, JTAG).
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration and customer issue resolution.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Master's degree with 1 year of experience or a PhD in a related field is acceptable.
